As the Investment Analyst, Kristina provides analytical support to the investment team regarding investment and strategy decisions. She is heavily involved in the due diligence and on-going monitoring of current and prospective investment managers. In this role, she also works closely with account management, maintaining quantitative data for client performance reporting. Kristina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Stockton University, and prior to graduation, interned at Wells Fargo Advisors where she gained exposure to securities research and portfolio modeling.
As Communications Associate for Verger, Paige provides marketing, branding, and public relations for the firm. In this role, she implements strategy through the conceptualization and creation of collateral, while facilitating regulatory compliance of materials, and manages the firm’s media relations. Prior to the formation of Verger, she served in a similar role for the Wake Forest University Office of Investments, and previously gained marketing experience with internships at PepsiCo and London-based Modus Publicity. Paige earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Political Science, from Wake Forest University.
As Investment Director, Chris is actively involved in all aspects of the investment process, from contributing to the asset allocation strategy to taking a lead role in comprehensive manager research and due diligence. He has spoken on industry panels, served on advisory boards of investment companies, and continues to grow his extensive network of contacts, particularly in the area of private investments. Previously, Chris served as the Investment Director at Davidson College, where he worked closely with the Chief Investment Officer to manage the endowment portfolio. Prior to Davidson, he was an Investment Analyst at the Alfred I. duPont Trust, based in Jacksonville, FL. Chris earned a Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and has passed the CFA Level II exam.
As President of Verger Capital and member of Verger’s leadership team, Garry develops and implements policies, strategies, and initiatives across all of the firm’s functional areas. As Verger strives to deepen and expand endowment and foundation relationships, Garry’s role encompasses internal and external asset management, portfolio rebalancing, risk management, compliance, business development, and client management.
Garry is a seasoned professional with over twenty years in the financial services industry having gained a unique breadth of experience across capital markets, corporate banking, and institutional asset management. Previously, he held positions during his tenure at PNC Financial Services Inc. Most recently, Garry served as Senior Vice-President for PNC Institutional Investments as well as Managing Director of PNC Capital Advisors. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of the Corporate Banking Development Program focusing on talent development and expanding engagement programing. Garry was also Managing Director of PNC’s Capital Markets Foreign Exchange, where he was responsible for PNC’s national foreign exchange (FX) business segments.
He received a Bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University’s Smeal College of Business. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Garry currently serves as a Treasurer and board member of the Diabetes Education and Research Foundation.
As Verger’s Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer, Jim oversees all investment decisions and is responsible for setting the course for the company, leading our corporate strategy and ensuring that Verger remains competitively positioned to serve our partners’ needs in an increasingly complex and volatile market environment.
Previously, Jim was Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer at Wake Forest University, responsible for investment of the University’s endowment, working capital and life income assets of over $1.4 billion. Prior to joining Wake Forest, Jim served as Managing Director at Wilshire Associates Inc., and Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager for Wilshire Funds Management, the money management arm of Wilshire Associates. At Wilshire, Jim was responsible for providing leadership on asset allocation, investment policy and investment manager selection. Jim served as the Chairman of the Wilshire Funds Management Investment Committee and served as Portfolio Manager for all of Wilshire Fund Management’s alternative investment portfolios.
In addition to carrying the highest word count of any bio at Verger, Jim holds a BBA in Finance from Villanova University, where he was a member of the NCAA Division I men’s varsity soccer team. He is married and the father of two boys.
As Operations Coordinator, Angie is responsible for the daily operations of the firm. Angie provides a high level of organization and attention to detail, advancing the efficiency of the firm. In her role, Angie facilitates the firm’s Board of Managers relationship, aids in the execution of all portfolio subscriptions, and directs the implementation of the firm’s cyber security program. Angie came to Verger after five years as Project Coordinator with Wake Forest University’s Office of Advancement. Prior to joining Wake, Angie worked for BB&T Wealth Management where she was responsible for planning client events, internal marketing projects and sales force incentives.
As Account Management Director, Liz serves as the principal liaison between the firm and its clients. In this role, she develops processes necessary to meet clients’ needs and expectations in the areas of account servicing, client reporting and Board involvement. In addition to researching and responding to client inquiries, Liz works closely with the investment and operations teams to cultivate client relationships. Prior to the launch of Verger, she served as a member of the operations team of Wake Forest University’s Office of Investments. In addition, Liz held a client support position within a mid-sized law firm, giving her over fifteen years of relationship management experience.
As Finance Director, Jeff provides strategic, operational, and tactical management of the financial operations of the firm. In this role, he oversees the annual financial statement audits, interim and strategic financial reporting, tax reporting, and budgetary management of the firm. Prior to joining Verger, Jeff was the Assistant Director of Audit & Compliance at Wake Forest University. Before joining the University, he gained valuable corporate accounting experience at KPMG LLP. Jeff earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accountancy, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University; he is also a Certified Public Accountant.
As Fund Accounting Manager, Rita oversees the administration of the funds, including all accounting and reporting functions. In this capacity, she oversees the accounting process between the fund’s investment managers, administrator and custodian, as well as provides reporting for fund performance, investor reporting, financial statements, tax, and audit. Rita previously served in a similar capacity with the Wake Forest University Office of Investments and prior to joining Wake Forest, spent seven years in corporate trust services with State Street and Wachovia. Rita earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from UNC-Charlotte.
As Verger’s Managing Director, Craig is actively involved in all aspects of the investment portfolios, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection, and performance reporting. Prior to the launch of Verger, he performed similar investment duties for Wake Forest University, and Agway, Inc., a Syracuse, NY based company that had over $500 million in pension plan assets. Craig earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Alfred University and a Master’s degree in Finance from Syracuse University; he also holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. Craig has been honored by aiCIO magazine with a spot on 2014’s (Mostly) 40 under 40, and has served as an Advisory Board member to a number of investment partnerships.
As Chief Operating Officer, Vicki is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Verger. In this capacity, she is responsible for the management and oversight of Verger’s business development and operations teams, as well as administration of the firm’s compliance program. Vicki served as Director of Operations with Wake Forest University’s Office of Investments, and prior to transitioning into operations, was an Investment Analyst in a role focused on trust and separate account assets. Prior to joining Wake Forest in 2006, she led operations at the Winston-Salem office of Legg Mason Wood Walker Inc. Vicki earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in Psychology, from Lenoir-Rhyne University.
