Adelaide (Alex) Sink

Former Chief Financial Officer, The State of Florida

Alex served as Florida’s elected Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2011.  As CFO, she was one of three trustees for the $120 billion Florida Retirement System (FRS).  She led the early participation of the FRS in the CERES initiative to require companies to disclose impacts of climate change risk.  As State Treasurer, she oversaw a $15 billion investment account, and endeavored to expand the participation of minority-owned investment managers.

Prior to elected office, Alex had a 26-year career at Bank of America.  She was BAC Florida President from 1993 to 2000, leading the state’s largest bank with $40 billion in deposits and more than 9,000 employees in over 800 branches.

Alex is a Life Trustee of Wake Forest University, where she previously served on the Investment Committee, chaired the Audit Committee, and served a term as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Most recently, she served as Board Chair of the Tampa Bay Wave, a non-profit start-up technology accelerator.  She also serves on the boards of United Way Suncoast, Junior Achievement and The Dali Museum of Art.

Alex has been recognized by numerous community organizations for her public service and non-profit work, including the 2020 Florida Citizen of the Year from the Bob Graham Center for Public Policy at the University of Florida, the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero Award, The Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame, and the Junior Achievement Tampa Bay Hall of Fame Laureate Award.  Additionally, she was inducted to the Girl Scouts Hall of Fame.
