An industry veteran of more than 30 years, John’s experience encompasses quantitative trading, venture capital, asset allocation, and hedge fund seeding. As a partner in Context Capital Partners, John holds the title of President and CIO. He is responsible for the firm’s strategic development and manages Context’s wide range of partnerships with asset managers.  Context Capital Partners is also the parent company of Context Business Lending, Context Summits, and Context Family Network.

Prior to assuming his current position with Context, John ran the investment committee and was Chief Investment Officer for a large family office where he oversaw a portfolio of hedge funds and was responsible for asset allocation and risk management. In addition to his family office background, John was a founder of Gamma Investors, a venture capital fund that invested primarily in financial services technology companies.

John started his career as an options trader on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange eventually becoming a partner at Cooper Neff and Associates. Cooper Neff was a pioneer in the area of quantitative proprietary trading and grew to be one of the largest option market makers at the time.  At Cooper Neff, he founded the London office and traded derivatives on fixed income instruments, commodities, and equities. That firm was sold to BNP Paribas in 1995 where John became an Executive Vice President.

John is a member of the Board of Managers at Verger Capital Management, an OCIO focused on educational endowments, and Wincoram Asset Management.

John received his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Rutgers University and earned a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
