Mike is a seasoned, global financial services professional with over twenty years of experience at the highest levels of both the investment banking and asset management industries.

He is the Co-Founder of V|C Broadgate, a boutique merchant bank focused on selected verticals of the Financial Services landscape, namely Asset Gathering, Insurance, Re-Insurance, Banking and Fintech. Prior to founding V|C Broadgate, Mike was the Head of Strategy and a member of the Management Committee and Investment Committees for FS Investments, where he led the restructuring of FS Investments’ $20 billion BDC platform and the restructuring of the Firm’s operations functions.

From 2007 to 2017, Mike was the Chief Operating Officer at Magnetar Capital, where he had direct managerial responsibility for all global operations, strategic planning, business development and implementation of strategic transactions. He was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Management Committee, Investment Committee, Valuation Committee and Chair of the Operations Committee.

Mike began his career in finance joining Lehman Brothers Inc. where he spent fifteen years. He was a Managing Director in the Hedge Fund Banking Group responsible for enterprise value solutions, including IPOs, minority stake sales, and alternative financing for the general partnerships of private equity and alternative asset managers. He co-headed Lehman’s Structured Credit Structuring Desk, co-headed US Structured Credit Sales, and helped launch the firm’s securitization business in London.

Mike is a Vice Chair of the US Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, an Emeritus Member of Wake Forest’s Board of Visitors, and a Founding Board Member of the Magnetar Youth Investment Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Minor in Politics from Wake Forest University.
