Alex is Founding Partner of Environmental Commodity Partners LP (ECP), an investment fund manager dedicated to investing in environmental commodity markets, as well as Climate Wedge Ltd, an independent carbon trading and climate finance investment firm founded in 2005.  He has 19 years of active investing and trading experience in climate finance, carbon markets, and clean energy project finance and development.  Alex has managed direct investments in carbon and related energy and environmental markets for several institutional funds, including currently over $200m in AUM across several funds for ECP (2017-present), the Inter-American Development Bank (2014-present), several multi-strategy hedge fund and reinsurance asset management clients (2011-2017), and Cheyne Capital (2005-2009).  He also co-founded US carbon credit developer EOS Climate, as well as Ugandan cookstoves distributor Up Energy, and wrote and launched the original version of the Voluntary Carbon Standard (now Verra), the most widely adopted trading standard for voluntary/non-compliance carbon assets.

Alex is an advisor to the California State Treasurer and member of California’s Green Bond Market Development Committee, a senior advisor to the Climate Bonds Initiative, and an advisor to quantitative trading firm Rosetta Analytics.  Alex previously helped build PricewaterhouseCoopers’s Climate Change Services team within Energy Corporate Finance practice in London (2001-2004).  He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Oxford University, BA from Cornell University, and is a CFA charterholder.
