Verger Capital, the outsourced-CIO investment advisor exclusively for non-profit organizations, is pleased to announce Garry Duncan as President of Verger Capital Management. Garry brings to Verger a strong industry background, most recently serving in a senior leadership role for PNC Institutional Asset Management. As part of Verger’s leadership team, Garry will develop and implement policies, strategies, and initiatives across all of the firm’s functional areas.
“Verger is a remarkable opportunity to be closer to the students, patients, and patrons we serve. There is something to be said for the tactile results of the work being done here – supporting scholarships, innovation, and research. The unique endowment DNA of this organization gives the critical context necessary to not only understand the needs and challenges of our investors, but to also help make an immediate impact. I’m excited to be a part of that,” Garry said when asked why he chose to make the move to Verger.
As Verger strives to deepen and expand endowment and foundation relationships, Garry’s role will also encompass internal and external asset management, portfolio rebalancing, risk management, compliance, business development, and client management.
“Garry is a proven leader with over twenty years of investing, managing, and leading in the institutional investment space. His industry experience combines big-picture innovation and high quality technical insight, making him an invaluable resource to the team and to our clients. Adding Garry to our ranks reflects our ongoing focus on building a world-class team at Verger Capital Management,” said CEO and CIO of Verger, Jim Dunn.
Garry is a seasoned professional with over twenty years in the financial services industry having gained a unique breadth of experience across capital markets, corporate banking, and institutional asset management. He received a Bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University’s Smeal College of Business. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Garry currently serves as a Treasurer and board member of the Diabetes Education and Research Foundation and lives outside of Philadelphia with his wife and two daughters.
We are eager for Garry to begin May 2016.
